Joseph Galaske's Bio:

    As a diverse individual interested in learning, I'm driven to pursue a career path that pushes the boundaries of what we know and how we can improve. While continuing my career, I hope to make a difference through collaborative work that extends current understanding and benefits the world in which we find ourselves.   Currently, I'm a fourth-year Biology major at Grinnell College and am currently seeking full-time employment after graduation in May in a stimulating, productive environment.   Through previous research internships, studying abroad, and on-campus research I've gained extensive experience in many major disciplines. I thrive in friendly, team-oriented environment that focuses on constructively pushing me to reach my full potential. I am a well-rounded young professional that has a variety of skill sets including teamwork, time management, holistic problem solving, and interpersonal communication.  

Joseph Galaske's Experience:

  • Research Assistant at University of Michigan

    As a research assistant within the University of Michigan's School of Medicine, I am allowed to work closely on projects directed by Dr. Randy Seeley and Dr. Henriette Schmidt. My projects specifically investigate appetite regulation in mice and applications to modern obesity treatment.

  • Student Researcher at Organization for Tropical Studies

    While studying abroad in South Africa (spring 2016) through the Organization of Tropical Studies, I was allowed the opportunity to take part in many projects of interest to South African National Parks (SAN Parks). These projects were all under the supervision of a directing principal investigator and involved work with waterbirds in the Kruger National Park, rural people's perceptions of the Kruger and investigating the fragmentation of seagrass beds in Langebaan Lagoon.

  • Research Assistant at University of Nebraska Medical Center - UNMC

    As a research assistant within UNMC's Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department, I was allowed to work closely on projects directed by Dr. Rebecca Oberley-Deegan. My projects specifically involved free radical biology and applications in modern prostate cancer treatment.
